Trade Deadline - Trade Bait Board + Percentage They're Moved
Updated: February 28
1. Jonathan Drouin - 99% - Everyone in the league knows he wants out. Allan Walsh has been pushing it for months but Yzerman isn't going to waste a big asset. He wants a return. If Drouin wants to sit, he'll sit. It'll get settled. There's a chance this gets pushed but Yzerman wants help this year and teams are knocking.
2. Mikkel Boedker - 99% - Contract negotiations haven't gone far and Arizona's playoff chances are slipping away. All indications are that he'll be too expensive to keep at 5M+ and the Coyotes are looking for a few 2nd rounders and a prospect for him. He's a goner.
3. Kris Russell - 99% - If Kris Russell really wants 5.5M a season, I cannot see the Calgary Flames signing him. If Brad Treliving showed anything during the summer, it was a devotion to try and improve the team's possession numbers. Frolik and Hamilton were both high possession players brought in. Russell is the opposite of this and in a market where D are scarce, combined with the Flames being out of the playoff mix, there's an extremely good chance Russell is a goner.
4. Loui Eriksson - 80% - Boston is in a playoff spot, but they have to make a hard decision on Eriksson, a UFA in the summer. If it isn't in the plans to re-sign him, they'll consider what their status is as a contender before considering moving him for a D or picks. With no deal done before the deadline, this one is going to the wire.
5. Radim Vrbata - 80% - The Canucks haven't decided if they're going to sell yet but times look bleak. If they do, Vrbata will be an asset marketable to teams looking for a few extra goals in the playoffs.
6. P-A Parenteau - 80% - The Leafs will definitely try to move him, so the interest depends on the asking price. UFA rental player with a history of being able to put up points. Someone will look into acquiring him for depth. All signs point to being an obvious rental trade.
7. Jamie McGinn - 80% - A UFA on a team that isn't making the playoffs. Unless there's a change of heart from Tim Murray because of a lack of interest, McGinn will be dealt before the deadline. The current asking price is a 2nd round pick.
8. Dan Hamhuis - 70% - Unless he wants to block a trade, he's gone. Best rental D on the market. A little past his prime but can still offer teams dependable minutes.
9. Nail Yakupov - 60% - The first overall pick in 2012 has gone through struggle in Edmonton at both sides of the rink. Teams looking to re-ignite the skill here are circling in - but at what cost?
10. Lars Eller - 60% - His name was out there last year and he almost got dealt at the last minute. There's always intrigue regarding Eller due to his size but he never seems to be able to score on a consistent basis. Marc Bergevin is okay with moving on.
11. Lee Stempniak - 60% - The Devils decided that selling is an option so Stempniak's name has surfaced for a 2nd round pick. Based on the year he's having, many contenders will consider it.
12. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - 40% - GM Peter Chiarelli isn't shopping RNH, but teams are calling due to the emergence of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid. If a team offers a top-4 D-man, it could get Chiarelli to listen but he doesn't have a time frame on any potential move.
13. Scott Hartnell - 40% - The Jackets, as I said earlier regarding Atkinson, are going to have to make a change. They'd move Hartnell, who isn't fitting in with Tortorella, but his salary/term are scaring off teams due to his physical style of play combined with his age.
